"DCW" by Charles Eames; ash molded plywood dining chair; seat and back panels molded into compound curves; supported by an understructure composed of pair of U-shaped legs, with the front legs slightly taller than the back legs; a C-shaped piece of heavier molded plywood bent in 2 directions links the back and seat panels and legs; decal on bottom of chair reads: "Manufactured by Evans Products Company Molded Plywood Division Herman Miller Furniture Company Sole Distributor Designed by Charles Eames"; see identical chairs, XX-0978.002-.003 From the exhibit "The Story of Littleton in 125 Objects": This is one of three DCW (Dining Chair Wood) Eames chairs found in the Ketring House in 1968 when the house was turned over to the City for the creation of the Littleton Historical Museum. The mid-century modern style home was retrofitted into exhibit space and offices, and opened to the public in 1969. |
