Patent on "una maguina para barrenar roca con avance de rosca giratoria accionada pro piston martillo y taladro de percusion," granted to John George Leyner by Spain, July 31, 1905; Patent No. 36547; handwritten in black ink; 23 pages; includes technical drawings; metal brads along left edge to outer cover of patent, which folds over; includes attached transmittal; translation (LOD, 7-31-2012): "A machine for drilling through rock with advanced gyrating screw thread driven by a hammer-piston with a precision drill." From the exhibit "The Story of Littleton in 125 Objects": A patent granted to John George Leyner by Spain, signed July 31, 1905, was for a rock drill. A rough translation states: "A machine for drilling through rock with advanced gyrating screw thread driven by a hammer-piston with a precision drill." Leyner's son donated several original patents to the Museum in 1962. |
