Description |
The saw was found in the collection of the Littleton Museum. It is a hand held saw used for cutting wood, It has a rectangular tapered steel blade that is attached to a wooden handle. The blade has a pointed edge on the bottom for cutting. Also known as a Crosscut Saw.The cutting teeth are small so the saw would be used for cutting across the grain. The blade is attached to the handle with two round head slotted screws. The wood handle has a vertical cut out on the end and in the center allow the user to grip the saw. The handle is finished with dark varnish. The are no markings on the saw to indicate manufacture. |
