World War I, Victory Medal; striped rainbow-colored silk grosgrain ribbon with brass metal backing with bar pin for fastening; front has rectangular brass bar with "FRANCE" in raised lettering; brass round flat medallion has "U.S." and insignia in center of medal of shield, with double-headed axe; on back: "The Great War for Civilization, France, Italy, Serbia, Japan, Montenegro, Russia, Greece, Great Britain, Belgium, Brazil, Portugal, Rumania, China." NOTE - Medallion part is missing; see Notes. Belonged to Cecil N. Abenheimer, US Army Air Corps, World War I. |
